Welcome to Cleethorpes in Bloom

Poppies in the garden

Cleethorpes in Bloom and its achievements over the years are well known and well loved in our area. In recent years, the successful team have decided to take a break. Now, it is back, but with some different priorities. It will still be working with local communities to improve their areas. We will look at any area in Cleethorpes and help the locals improve it. This will be done with advice and some funding. Our main priority will be sustainability, using environmentally friendly produce, reducing waste and attracting wildlife to the area. In the front garden, in your street, in your school, in your local park, this is an opportunity to make everywhere a bit greener and more colourful.

Cleethorpes is unique as it has both formal gardens and wildlife areas within a few steps. Cleethorpes is situated on the south bank of the Humber Estuary, which gives varied habitats like mud flats, sand dunes and saltmarsh, which all support a rich variety of wildlife. We are proud of our special location and intend to promote this aspect. The river is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a Specially Protected Area (SPA) under the birds directive and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) under the habitats directive. This is where the new Cleethorpes in Bloom group is different. We will be encouraging and promoting this with a diversity of both flora and fauna. We will also be looking at rough-ground, derelict sites that would be suitable for rewilding. Each and every improvement to our environment, big or small, will help to combat climate change.
